I read a book of titanic. Do you know Titanic? I thought this ship was made in America, but it was made in Northern Ireland in 1912. I was surprised at this. Titanic was the biggest ship around the world at that time. The weight was 24,900 tons, length was 265 meters, and width was 28 meters! It was very big. The ship attracted many first class passengers, because it was very beautiful, and it had luxurious rooms. People didn't think this ship sink!!
The Titanic left Southampton, in England for New York in April 10, 1912. On April 14, it was very cold, so most passengers stayed own rooms with talking, drinking and listening to music. A sailor found something in front of ship. It was an iceberg!! It was very big. The titanic went it at 40 kilometers and hour. The ship hit the iceberg, so some passengers noticed, and water came into third class passengers' rooms. They found something is wrong. The ship had emergency doors to water could not move along ship, but they were useless. The Titanic's captain recognized the ship would sink anyway. The nearest ship was the Californian. Most ships had radios, but Californian's radio crew went to bed, so nobody listened to radio information.
Titanic had 20 boats to escape, but it was insufficient for all people. Crews said men stayed here, and preceded women and children. Finally, the Titanic went under the sea at 2:20 a.m. Many passengers sacrificed for other people. It is sad thing.
I watched a movie of "The Titanic" twice. It was moved. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet played the leading characters. The pose is very famous now!!
